The Poverty Alliance and our members are deeply concerned by many of the proposed changes to our social security system included in the Pathways to Work Green Paper. In our response to this UK Government consultation, we highlight aconcerns about the impact that revised proposals on the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill will have on creating unjust inequality in our social security safety net for young disabled people and those become disabled. We say that this is a policy choice that entrenches harm for future generations of disabled people, and risks discriminating against those with fluctuating and degenerative conditions.
