Making a Difference:

Stories from the Fight Against Poverty in Scotland

As part of the to European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion in 2010, three films were made to raise awareness of poverty in Scotland from the perspectives of young, adult, and older people. Filmmakers worked with students from Kirkcaldy High School, adults from the Clydebank Independent Resource Centre, and The Damned Rebel Bitches from Tollcross Community Centre (Edinburgh) to produce short documentaries.

Through a series of workshops, members of each group researched, planned and executed their films using professional equipment with the filmmakers as creative and technical mentors.

Making A Difference was a collaboration between The Poverty Alliance and Document Festival for 2010 European Year For Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, funded by the DWP.

All the films have available to view on the Making a Difference website. The films have been screened across Scotland and at festivals across Europe. They are also used as material for discussion groups. If you wish to find out more about the project please contact the Peter Kelly.
