It's wrong that so many people find the cost of heating oil difficult to meet in one go.
The Poverty Alliance is partnering with Grampian Credit Union to offer access to a no interest loan to buy home heating oil, keep rural homes warm, and be able to pay back affordable amounts through membership of Grampian Credit Union.
To be eligible you must:
- Live in Aberdeenshire.
- Use home heating oil.
- Be on a low income.
- Be willing to give your opinion on how the scheme worked for you.
How does Fair Fuel work?
- Make contact with one of the three local advice organisations below.
- They will take your details to send to Grampian Credit Union.
- Once you have agreed an amount, and a repayment plan that is affordable, the Credit Union will pay this straight to your home heating oil distributor.
They break everything down into clear steps, tell you exactly what’s needed (and when), and support you from start to finish so nothing feels confusing or overwhelming.
This is a pilot project – we want to know if it worked for you. You will be invited to answer a short anonymous survey about your experiences at the end, to help us understand what went well and what didn’t.
