This report presents findings from a participatory action research project led by people with lived experience of the UK asylum system, including disabled people and carers.
Conducted as part of the Poverty Alliance’s Rights in Action project, the research examines the barriers faced by disabled people and carers who are seeking asylum or have refugee status in accessing their fundamental human rights.
The testimonies of participants highlight how inadequate access to accurate, accessible, and targeted information leaves individuals (at some personal cost) to navigate complex systems alone, reinforcing precarity rather than security.
