Challenging Poverty Through Human Rights – HRCS Webinar Series: Webinar 3

Human rights are minimum standards developed to ensure we are all able to lead dignified lives, but we know that poverty and inequality are creating a human rights crisis across Scotland and the UK. Poverty is both a cause and a consequence of human rights failures, and this understanding of poverty has underpinned the work of the Poverty Alliance.
This Challenge Poverty Week, in partnership with Human Rights Consortium Scotland, Lydia Murphy will be discussing the role of human rights in challenging poverty in Scotland, what it means to take a rights-based approach to poverty – both in policy and practice – and the opportunities presented by a Human Rights Bill for Scotland.
There will be a presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, giving attendees an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues raised.
This event is organised by Human Rights Consortium Scotland in partnership with The Poverty Alliance.
