Fiona McHardy
Community Research Officer
Fiona joined the Poverty Alliance in February 2009. Fiona is currently working on a Big Lottery Funded project Evidence - Participation - Change. This project is looking to inform and engage organisations affected by poverty and to enable them to influence policy. This will involve a range of capacity building activities for voluntary and community organisations and the development of new forums for community engagement. Fiona's role as Research Officer is to work with and support individuals experiencing the issues of poverty to undertake participatory research, to provide an evidence base of living on a low income.
Prior to joining the Poverty Alliance, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Scottish Poverty Information Unit. During this time she worked on a range of research projects that focused on the issues arising as a result of living in poverty. Fiona has been involved in projects employing both qualitative and quantitative methods. Areas researched include; health inequalities, food poverty, financial inclusion and debt.
Her research interests includes participative methodologies, empowerment through research, community research and food poverty.
