ACVO
ACVO exists to represent, support and develop the voluntary sector and to foster, and promote the sector's role in the development of caring communities where individuals are enabled to achieve their full potential.

Age Concern
Leading charitable movement in the UK concerned with ageing and older people. Take a lead role in campaigning to influence government policy and bring about lasting change, in the provision of information and advice, research, training and grants.

Amnesty International
Worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. Activities range from public demonstrations to letter-writing, from human rights education to fundraising concerts, from individual appeals on a particular case to global campaigns on a particular issue.

Care and Health
Care and Health is a major online resource for people in the care sector. The site has a database of all UK approved social work courses, extensive policy and law references, a sector specific care jobs service, daily news, features on professional practice, over 1400 links to other sites, discussion areas and guides to finding the right training courses.

CASE
The ESRC Research Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE) was established in October 1997 with funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Castlemilk Budgeting Services
is a charity run project which works closely with Poverty Alliance, and offers money advice and support to people in the local area of Castlemilk and the wider area of Glasgow.

CAVOC
C.A.V.O.C. is the umbrella organisation that exists to support and represent the voluntary sector in North Lanarkshire south area - the former Motherwell District.

Citizens Advice Scotland
The Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, and its member bureaux form Scotland's largest independent advice network. The CAB Service is free, independent, confidential and impartial. CABx empower people to tackle their problems head on by providing advice and practical support on any subject. A "citizens' service, provided for citizens by citizens".

CHEX - Community Health Exchange
Is part of the Community Development Foundation and operates within the Scottish Community Development Centre. It is funded by the NHS Health Scotland.

Child Poverty Action Group
CPAG is the leading charity campaigning for the abolition of poverty among children and young people in the UK and for the improvement of the lives of low-income families.

Direct Payments Caledonia
provides support services to help people who want to apply for, or are currently in receipt of, a direct payment.

Edinburgh Central Citizens Advice Bureau
Offer advice on a range of issues including employment, housing, money and welfare benefits. Follow individual subject links down the left side of the page for more information about the kind of help we can give.

Energy Action Scotland (EAS)
Is the national charity which works for warm, dry homes and aims to eliminate fuel poverty, particularly as it affects low income households. EAS provides conferences, forums, reports, information leaflets, a quarterly journal and email updates. It also offers a range of training, research and consultancy services in energy-related topics.

Engender
An information, research and networking organisation for women in Scotland, working with groups locally and internationally to improve women's lives and increase their power and influence. The organisation campaigns to ensure that women and their concerns have greater visibility and equal representation at all levels of Scottish society.

Financial Fitness Resource Team
is a project based in Inverclyde which offers advice and guidance on a wide range of benefit issues free of charge.

Part of the largest international network of environmental groups in the world.

Glasgow Healthy City Partnership
Glasgow's main formal health alliance, working to improve health and wellbeing for all those living and working in the city.

Have a Heart
Have a Heart Paisley is an exciting project which has been created with the aim of radically improving Paisley's rate of heart disease. The benefits of this dynamic project wont just be felt locally, however. Lessons learned in Paisley will be used to help prevent heart disease throughout the rest of Scotland and beyond.

Help the Aged
UK-based charity which provides practical support to help older people live independent lives, particularly those who are frail, isolated or poor.

Joined Up For Jobs
Joined up for Jobs is Edinburgh’s Employability Agreement. The website contains an online directory of organisations in the city which provide support to people seeking work.

Quality Action Group
Are a group of adults in Stirling who have a learning disability. We meet and work in partnership with organisations, currently including Stirling Council Community Services, Key Housing Association, and Forth Valley Health Board and also with other members of the local community to provide a range of services for people with learning disabilities.

Scottish Poverty Information Unit

The Unit seeks to redress the surprising lack of specifically Scottish based information in the poverty field and to make this information available to those who need it. Scottish Women's Convention
The Scottish Women's Convention provides opportunities for women to engage in focused debate about specific issues of concern and to influence policy decisions in Scotland. It aims to reflect the diversity of women in Scotland and to ensure that their voices get heard in the policy making process.
