Play is a fundamental need and is critical to the development and wellbeing of children and young people. The importance of play in enshrined in legislation United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child (1990) and is recognised at a National Policy level within Scotland through the National Play Strategy and the National Play Action Plan. This report provides original evidence, using qualitative fieldwork with practitioners, parents and children inFife on the relationship between poverty and children’s play.
